Partners providing funding for MCET's initiatives include the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) where MCET serves as the state-designated environmental training center providing training to meet certification requirements of water and wastewater professionals in Maryland. MCET provides technical assistance to Maryland’s 66 major wastewater plants discharging into the Chesapeake Bay to upgrade to Enhanced Nutrient Removal.

Additional funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allows MCET to deliver on-site technical assistance for small wastewater facilities. Funding received from the Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) provides metal/non metal and coal safety and health training designed to reduce mining accidents, injuries, and illness.
