Karen L. Brandt, Director
Karen directs and manages all of the
Maryland Center for Environmental Training (MCET) programs for
environmental, health, and safety workforce training, and the delivery of
onsite technical assistance for municipalities, private businesses and
industry, and state and federal agencies. Karen graduated from the
University of Maryland with a Bachelor's of Science in Management.
Programs and partnerships managed by Karen
focus on delivering quality education and technical assistance to
professionals in drinking water and wastewater
operations, occupational safety and
health training for Maryland's employers and employees, technical outreach for
industry, and compliance assistance services.
Karen serves on committees such as the
Maryland Department of the Environment’s Drinking Water Capacity
Development committee and the Maryland Water and Wastewater Operator
Training Review and Evaluation committee. In addition, Karen participated
in the Maryland’s Water Security and Sewerage Advisory Council Interagency
Technical Assistance Committee as a Sub-committee Chair, and the EPA’s
National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology’s (NACEPT)
Compliance Assistance Advisory Committee (CAAC). She has also worked
closely with the Water and Waste Operators Association, the Maryland Rural
Water Association, and the Maryland Municipal League.
